Remote sensing & machine learning

Remote sensing generally refers to the use of satellite or aircraft-based sensor technologies to detect and classify objects on Earth. Examples include digital aerial imagery, satellite imagery and point clouds. Urgis is able to process and analyze this (geo)data in order to extract new valuable information. By using digital elevation models, aerial photos and satellite data, we can calculate areas and volumes of objects, and detect objects like buildings, parcels and vegetation. By comparing data and detected objects over time, we can monitor changeswhich can give new insights in spatial processes.


Object recognition and object segmentation

A photo contains a lot of information that can be interpreted by the human eye. Aerial photos are very suitable for quickly inventorying an area. However, when it comes to very large areas or numbers, this is no longer an option. Urgis develops smart algorithms using artificial intelligence (AI) that automatically extract specific information and objects from aerial imagery and height models (e.g. point clouds). Automatic detection of objects includes the detection of specific industrial and commercial objects that can be of valueable information for insurance companies and municipalities, for example solar panels or trees. Detected or segmented objects can then be linked to cadastral parcels, addresses or the basic registration of large-scale topography. Data analysis

Combining and analyzing different (geographic) data requires specific knowledge and expertise. Urgis has this knowledge and is aware of the rapidly developing possibilities with GIS and new data analysis techniques. By combining data, we can efficiently analyze complex spatial insights, relationships and trends. Het internet staat vol met informatie dat aan een locatie te koppelen is. Door deze informatie automatisch te verzamelen en te koppelen aan een locatie kunnen nieuwe en interessante inzichten worden verkregen.

Marktinventarisatie en automatische lead-generatie door data-mining
Wij verzamelen en analyseren kadastrale gegevens, geografische gegevens, bedrijfsgegevens (afkomstig van bijvoorbeeld LinkedIn of overige google zoekbronnen) en demografische kenmerken met als doel om uw klanten doelgroep op een efficiënte manier aan te schrijven of leads te genereren.  Op basis van uw bedrijfsactiviteiten of een specifiek profiel bekijken wij hoe bedrijven, adressen, gebouwen of percelen kunnen worden gelocaliseerd. Door met big-data en feitelijke inzichten een specifieke doelgroep effectief te benaderen, versterken wij uw acquisitie-strategie.

Op luchtfoto’s is veel interessante informatie te zien. Echter is het enorm tijdrovend om grote gebieden handmatig te doorzoeken op bepaalde objecten of kenmerken. Door onze luchtfoto analyses kunnen wij snel en met hoge nauwkeurigheid grote gebieden scannen. Voorbeeld: bent u leverancier van zwembadpompen en wilt u effectief alle potentiële klanten in heel Nederland benaderen? Dan scannen wij de luchtfoto van Nederland op zwembaden en krijgt u een volledig overzicht van alle adressen met zwembaden, waarop de marketing effectief kan worden gericht. 

Process optimization and support

Besides developing our own geo-data applications, we also often work at the customer's office. As a result, we often get questions about whether business processes can be automated or can be improved, and we are happy to help our customers with this. By writing small pieces of software (geo-ICT), we help the customer automate inefficient, time-consuming and error-prone work. This makes business processes easier, faster and more robust.
